Globe Eye Foundation
Globe Eye Foundation is the vision of Dr. Sunder Ram Shetty, who found the need for an organisation to address the need of the poor and the unreachable in the area of eye care service. G E F came in to existance in the year 1995 with the following objectives.
G E F Vision:
To create and deliver a quality eye care system, which is easily accessible to every citizen.
G E F Mission:
- To take the best of eye care services to the poorest of the people
- To provide quality eye care services at affordable cost irrespective of caste, creed and religion
- To upgrade the services to match contemporary practices through equipment, improvisation and research
- To train ophthalmologists, ophthalmic staff through training programmes, fellowships,degree & diploma courses
A Humble Beginning
To fufill the above objectives G E F Eye Hospital was started in a humble way in a small rented premises at Hoskote town of Bangalore Rural district in the year 1996. G E F with its commendable record in the service activity and wide popularity among the beneficiries found the need to increase and expand the facility. In the year 2005 the new G E F Eye Hospital came into existance.
Realising the Dream of A Well Equipped Hospital
This is a facility having 14000 sq.ft. area and complete with out-patient department, in-patient department and operation theatre facilities. Presently it is equipped with all the latest equipment to provide not only the basic eye care but also speciality eye care services.
The Reachable Goal to the Future
In line with VISION 2020, G E F has adopted 3 tier system to deliver the eye care services to the community G E F has the vision to develop this 3 tier system by providing the vision centre (primary), base hospital (secondary) and referal hospital (tertiary). When it is complete every taluk of the state will be covered by vision centres and every district by a base hospital and one referal hospital for the state.
