Cataract continues to be the major cause of avoidable blindness, inspite of our continuous effort to bring it down. The Backlog and incidence in Karnataka is ever increasing.
Since 1996 GEF has been reaching the doorsteps of needy through its eye camps to restore their eye sight.We have performed more than 50 thousand catract surgeries so far. GEF is capable of performing 10 thousand sight saving surgeries every year but due to inadequate financial resources we are forced to confine ourselves to 5 thousand surgeries.
In the year 2011 we want to take the number of operations to 10 thousand. So, we have started enrolling the donors to support these operations. We are looking forward to have a good support from you for this project starting from 1st week of January 2011. Please select the week of the year in which your sponsored surgeries is to be done.
