Founded in 1995 by Dr. Sundar Ram Shetty, Globe Eye Foundation is a registered and non-profit organization. It has been delivering Eye Care services through its Eye Hospitals for over two decades. The first hospital at Hosakote, a rural town near Bangalore, was established in 1996. Subsequently, an eye hospital in Chintamani was reinstated into operation in 2014, followed by the setting up of a new eye hospital in Kolar town in 2015. Globe Eye Foundation has extended its eye care service to Tumkur district at the new GEF Netradeep Eye Hospital, Tumkur, from June 2019. With effect from ,5th October 2022, we moved to new premises and started functioning independently as GEF Chintamani.

Screening campus are held frequently in rural areas of Karnataka. Our staff visit remote villages and identify patients needing treatment.
Our plan is to implement a 3 tier eye care programme which will take eye care to poorest in rural and urban Karnataka.
When fully functional this 3 tier eye care system should be able to reach every citizen of the state.
Globe Eye Foundation (GEF) Eye hospitals are charitable in nature. The services rendered are mostly free of cost and charges, if any, are grossly subsidized. Funds from donors will help to maintain and upgrade the eye care services.
Globe Eye Foundation is reaching out to individuals, institutions and the Government for donations. Donations to GEF are exempt from tax u/s 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act.
Support for Free Cataract Operations – A donation of Rs.2000/- will enable the hospitals to operate one Cataract blind patient free of cost.
Every single donation goes a long way in alleviating the problem of blindness in our community.
