GEF Eye Hospital
Netradeep GEF Eye Hospital, Kolar
In 2015, as a joint project with Rotary Bangalore Indira Nagar and Rotary International, GEF established Netradeep eye Hospital, Kolar, a new Eye Hospital in Kolar town.
Netradeep GEF Eye Hospital, Kolar was established in 2015 as a joint initiative between Globe Eye Foundation and Rotary Bangalore, Indira Nagar, with an initial investment of ₹1.25 crore. The hospital was created to address the significant unmet need for quality eye care in the Kolar district and has since grown into a major ophthalmic institution in the region.
The hospital is equipped with a modern Out Patient Department featuring advanced diagnostic equipment — including slit-lamp bio-microscopes, non-contact tonometers, fundus cameras, and an autorefractometer — as well as a contemporary Operating Theatre with operating microscopes for cataract and other ophthalmic surgeries.
Netradeep Kolar is a secondary-level eye care centre that handles a high volume of cataract cases, refractive error correction, and general ophthalmology, referring complex cases requiring tertiary care to the Hosakote flagship hospital. The hospital runs regular free camps in association with Rotary clubs and local NGOs, screening thousands of patients annually in the Kolar, Mulbagal, Bangarpet, and Srinivaspur taluks.
The name Netradeep — meaning "light of the eye" — reflects GEF's mission to be a beacon of sight for the underserved communities of Karnataka's Kolar Gold Fields region.
