Supporters of Globe Eye Foundation
We are grateful to the organisations and individuals whose trust and generosity make our work possible — bringing quality eye care to thousands across Bangalore and beyond.
Our Story
Two Decades of Collective Vision
Two decades ago, Globe Eye Foundation (GEF) was established thanks to the generosity of our vast network of well-wishers who have supported all our endeavours as we have grown from one man's idea to a real movement that has changed lives and saved sight for lakhs. In keeping with our organisational philosophy, we maintain a business model of 70–30 — 70% charitable patients vs. 30% paying patients. This model helps GEF maintain sustainable operations and continue updating its infrastructure.
The support of our collaborators and donors provides us the impetus for growth. Now as we move ahead with plans to set up rural Vision Centres for eye care, our friends and supporters stand beside us to encourage us and help spread the gift of sight. We are grateful for this support and proud to have lived up to the expectations of all our well-wishers.
GEF Eye Hospitals is a charitable institution and a Non-Governmental organisation. The eye care provided in our hospitals and through Vision Centres is not possible without the contribution of Supporters, Collaborators, Philanthropists and Donors. Over the years, many individual donors, NGOs, Charitable bodies and Government agencies have come to our aid — volunteering their resources, expertise, influence and knowledge.

Our Key Supporters & Collaborators
C P Bothra Trust (CPBT)
The CPBT is a charitable trust with the main objective of providing medical aid and facilities to society in an accessible, effective and affordable manner. They started in a humble way with a medical centre at Jaibharathinagar, Bangalore which has now grown to support over 20,000 patients in that area. Recently the building of CPBT Charitable Medical Centre was inaugurated, which also has an eye care section.
Department of Ophthalmology, Ministry of Health, Government of India
The Department of Ophthalmology, Ministry of Health, Government of India has provided a grant towards setting up the building and infrastructure of the GEF Eye Hospital, Hosakote.
District Blindness Control Societies (DBCS), Government of India
GEF continues to receive Grant-in-aid for free Cataract Surgeries performed in its Eye Hospitals through the District Blindness Control Societies of the Government of India.
Rotary International
Rotary Bangalore Indira Nagar · Rotary Bangalore Koramangala · Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor · Rotary Bangalore Jeevanbhima Nagar
Rotary Bangalore Indira Nagar and all its members have been major supporters of GEF since inception. Year on year they have sponsored Cataract camps and surgeries, equipment purchases, and more. Several matching grants with Rotary International facilitated procurement of important equipment — including the Iridex Oculight 532 NM Wavelength Laser and KOWA Fundus Camera for Diabetic Retinopathy treatment, a colour fundus screening machine, and an autorefractometer.
In 2015, Rotary Bangalore Indira Nagar and GEF jointly established GEF Nethradeep Eye Hospital in Kolar — set up with an initial budget of ₹1.25 Crore. The hospital features a well-equipped OPD with diagnostic equipment and a modern operating theatre. Their continuous support is a great source of strength to GEF as we build a network of tertiary, secondary, and primary Vision Centres across Karnataka.
Latter Day Saints
Latter Day Saints has generously donated an operating microscope for eye surgeries, enabling GEF to perform more precise and successful ophthalmic procedures.
Operation Eyesight
Operation Eyesight is a valued international partner that has contributed to GEF's mission of eliminating preventable blindness across underserved communities.
GEF — Bothra Institute of Community Ophthalmology
In partnership with Sri Chandanmal Pukhraj Bothra Trust
GEF has partnered with Sri Chandanmal Pukhraj Bothra Trust to establish an Educational and Training Centre to extend our expertise in Ophthalmology and Optometry to the broader ophthalmic community. This unit — the Bothra Institute of Community Ophthalmology — offers courses, diplomas, and training at many different levels, while also helping young men and women from Hosakote enter a new vocation as Optometrists.
Long-term Fellowships in Comprehensive and Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS)
Short-term Training in Phacoemulsification and Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS)
2 & 3-year Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology (DOT)
Over 138 Ophthalmologists from across India and the world have trained with us. All trainees compulsorily participate in our charitable outreach programmes.
Individuals & Other Organisations
In addition, a large number of individuals and other organisations have given their contributions — large and small — and continue to provide valuable support and encouragement. Each act of generosity, however modest, has helped GEF grow into a movement that has changed tens of thousands of lives.
Our Impact
Impact & Implications
GEF has treated lakhs of patients and performed thousands of surgeries — both free and paid. Our outreach programmes extend across four of Karnataka's largest districts. Our relentless battle against blindness, through awareness programmes, eye care camps, and eye donation camps, has actively prevented tens of thousands of cases of blindness across Karnataka.
In the near future, we plan to extend our services through Vision Centres in every taluk to identify and treat many different eye diseases among Karnataka's rural population, while facilitating safe and secure eye collection practices from donors.
