Netradeep GEF Eye Hospital, Tumkur
In 2019, as a joint project with Rotary Tumkur East and Rotary Indira Nagar, Bangalore, GEF established Netradeep eye Hospital, Tumkur, a new Eye Hospital in Tumkur Town.
Netradeep GEF Eye Hospital, Tumkur extends Globe Eye Foundation's network of accessible, affordable eye care to the Tumkur district — one of Karnataka's largest and most populous districts. The hospital is strategically positioned to serve patients from Tumkur city as well as from the surrounding taluks including Tiptur, Madhugiri, Pavagada, and Koratagere.
The hospital offers comprehensive ophthalmic services through a fully functional OPD equipped with modern diagnostic tools, and a well-equipped Operating Theatre for cataract and minor surgical procedures. A dedicated optometry section provides spectacle prescriptions and low-vision assessments for patients of all age groups.
Netradeep Tumkur functions as part of GEF's strategy to build a network of secondary Vision Centres across Karnataka, with each centre capable of handling the majority of common eye conditions at the community level and routing complex cases to the tertiary Hosakote hub. The hospital participates actively in GEF's district-level outreach, conducting regular camps in coordination with government health authorities, Rotary clubs, and other partner organisations.
With its location in the Silk City of Karnataka, Netradeep Tumkur serves as both a clinical centre and a bridge between rural communities and specialist eye care — ensuring that geography and poverty are never barriers to preserving sight.
